GM I
Young and Bad
Part 005
This is the
map to use for the ship. When the fight finally happens with
Gus attacking the ship it will be a flying fight. Gus and his
crew can fly. Uncle and the girls can fly as dragons.
As this is to be a flying fight the hex scale on this map is in mega
hexes. That is to say two figures may occupy the same hex
without engaging each other. They may also move through each
others hexes unhindered. Even an opponents'. According to
the flying rules, two flying figures are not engaged unless both wish
to be. Gus and his people will not wish to engage dragons in
HTH.
The GM should also make two counters
for every flying combatant. One counter will be used on the
blue area of the map, or on the deck of the ship, to represent their
position and facing. The second counter will be used in the tan
area around the sails to represent the figures altitude. The
sails should not affect movement, as they will be furled while the
ship is at anchor.
All movement is
divided by three. Round off unless the figure is diving.
Then round up. Gus and his people move ten normally so they can
move only three on this map (four if diving), or only two and attack
a figure standing on the deck of the ship. If they fire a
missile or cast a spell they cannot move at all. Uncle on the
other hand has an Ma of twenty four as a dragon. So he can move
eight, or only four and action (like breath). Gail and Ada have
slightly smaller dragons so they can only move seven, or three if
they wish to breath fire (four if they dive to breath).
Gus does not have any ranged attacks, so some random pirates should
be sprinkled on deck for him to assault. He will not land to
fight them, but will hover close enough to strike down at them.
The height advantage will give him DX+1. But remember all
figures, both those flying and those on the ground are at DX -4 to
attack each other. A flying figure that attacks another flying
figure is at DX-8.
Of course none of this
will happen till after Uncle and the Captain make their sales pitch
at the tavern of the nobles. And even after that they will have
plenty of time to shop around in Paris. The attack will not
come till late at night. If for some reason they stay in Paris
and they are not available to help defend it, there is a very good
chance the ship will be captured.
