True Lord
On the island of redemption are
a unique breed of dragons. The are the only dragons that are
know to meld. If a dragon from this island is subdued, and then a
character submits to telepathy from the dragon, the
humbled dragon will meld with the character. Roll one D6 to
see which ego dominates, and wether the character becomes one of
the GMs' characters or continues under control of the
player. A roll of four or above and the players' ego
dominates. Halflings get +1 on this reaction roll. A charm
can be used to improve this roll for the character.
Add the characters' and the
dragons' IQ and divide by two. This is the new shared
IQ. At any time the character may use renew spells phase to
shift into dragon form. The character retains original ST
and DX. The dragon does the same.
This may result in a much higher
IQ for starting characters. There is a famous example of a
starting character who bought a lot of reptile poison and put it
in the feed for a flock of sheep. He then loaded the sheep up on
a boat an took them to Redemption Island. He pulled back and
watched from off shore. A dragon came along and ate the sheep. It
then grew very ill taking a lot of damage. The character then put
to shore and took on the dragon. One lucky charge attack later he
had subdued it.
IQ is shared and all spells
and talents are at cost. There is no doubling cost for talents or
three point spells. A True lord may learn spells or talents
freely. Iron still gives them DX-4.
If the dragon occupies more hexes
than the original character, adjacent characters are immediately
forced back and have to make a 3D6 roll vs. DX or fall undeneath
the dragon possibly being trampled.
A true lord is an Unmortal
character. Immortals do not grow old and can not be killed.
Mortals grow old and can be killed. As an unmortal they do not
grow old, but can be killed.
When viewed from an astral state
both sides of a True Lord can be seen. If the character is in
dragon form and viewed from the astral plane their humanoid form
will be visible floating within the dragon near the head. The
humanoid will be able to act on the astral plane. They will have
their armor, equipment, and enchantments.
If the physical half of a true
lord is killed they can shift forms and keep fighting. Sometimes
they will just turn into a dragon and fly away. A slain body
shifted into the astral plane does not decay and can be kept
there indefinetly until a revival can be arranged. All revivals
have to happen within an hour of death. This time only
accumulates when the slain body is in the physical. There is one
famous instance where the humanoid form of a True lord had two
wishes. The dragon form was slain by a huge wizard's wrath. The
humanoid then wished it back to life, and then back to full
strength. In this way True Lords can revive themselves.
