Or "how would you fix the game, since we're all game
developers":
Pretend that 40 man instances never
existed. That Bliz just released some 1-60 game with instances that
you could play at level 60 along with whatever other content they
have (quests, rep, BGs, etc)
So you would have the following
5 man instances:
- BRD
- BRS
- UD/Hu Strat
-
Scholo
- Dire Maul
and a 10 man UBRS dungeon.
Now,
arguably if Bliz never created 40 man dungeons we'd be swimming in 5
man dungeons for people. But content wise I think it's unfeasible to
create a pile of new 'solo content'.
So instead of farming 40
men dungeons which would take months, no matter how lucky you are
(depending on how many new drops), we could farm a new dungeon in
say, one day, and have all the drops we wanted. This of course
implies certain things will drop (I've never seen foror's drop for
example, and to a lesser degree I've never seen the warrior trinket
drop from DM north).
ANYWAY the point is that without 40 men
dungeons, content will be finished and on 'farm status' within a
week, tops. Maybe it's possible for bliz to create incessant banal
'find me my socks' type of quests, but I would have quit the game
eons ago if all I did with my time in Azeroth was help morons find
their lost kitties or kill stupid mobs. Or go into a city full of
level 55 guards who were too inept to kill level 45 mobs around the
area.
But I digress. Basically since the whole lot of you
love to complain, what exactly is it you want, and why should I
believe that you won't be able to absorb the content in about 1/10th
of the time it takes for Blizzard to go through its hoops programming
it for you?

“ With so much to explore, so much to see, so many plot-lines to ferrit-out, not to mention all the things you can do with other players questing together, exploring together, PvPing, crafting gear for friends and even strangers, and just socilizing in general in a satisfying environment in one of the most widely recognized fantasy electronic-gaming franchises this side of Final Fantasy why Would you need 'Time-Sinks'? “
Donkajin,
of post 88 has got a point that I agree with. EPICS should be given out to only those people who have completed all of the solo questlines first. Otherwise you are wasting the developers time. Can you blame the devs for giving you MC? You skipped 90% of the stuff they developed in the first place.

That's the second person that my guild that has either /canceled
or left because we made the mistake of going to MC once.
I'm
not kidding. Over the period of a week a high end raiding guild
needed some filler and used people from my guild to do so. So now we
have all been inside MC once each.
Now that I have been
there, I too am majorly affected by it. My play time has dropped from
20 hours a week to 10. I made pvp rank 11 two weeks ago, and now i'm
just treading water. I don't even join the "A" team WSG
groups anymore.
More guild members are logging on less often.
Quite literally MC made it real to us, what this game is set up to
reward. And we don't want to be like you people.

The average age of MMO's is surprisingly the same as the First crusade.
20 for the men, and 36 for the women.
I just made that up
Or did I?
85.5% of all statistics are made up on the spot...
